My HP Pavilion laptop screen broke (don’t ask !), so I was in urgent need of a new laptop.
For the first time in my life, I bought an ASUS laptop 17″ !
No AMD Ryzen this time, but an Intel I7 instead …
I needed the following specs:
– One of the latest processors
– 17″ screen
– Intel I7 or AMD Ryzen 7
– 1TB SSD
– 16 GB RAM
– Wifi
– Ethernet
– Bluetooth
– Backlit keyboard
– Something that Ubuntu runs on
The only issue I had (which I knew in advance), was that the WiFi module is not (yet) supported in Ubuntu, without modifying the kernel etc …
I simply switched the WiFi module, with the one from the broken HP Pavilion. Furthermore,
I did take out the new SSD, and did put the SSD from the HP Pavilion in it. (An EVO 1 TB SSD)
Next, I was “up and running” with Ubuntu on this machine, in a couple of minutes 🙂
